This is a OAK Handmade Journal and there is only one like it on the planet!

This gorgeous OOAK Handmade journal has enough room between the pages to add photos. You can use it as a guest-book or a scrapbook or a personal journal. This book is stitched on cords by Australian book artist Jean Hall.
The covers are cut from laminated plywood and have been stained with a dark oak finish.
The main colors is a soft bluish gray with touches of tan and black.
The cover panel is decorated with fiber strip crochet and a large handmade
plywood button with a sliver plated button in the center. A plaited cord is attached to the back cover binding cords and is used
to keep the book closed and private.
Spine cords are crossed and laced at the back for added strength as shown in the photos.

The unique method of stitching that I use to bind my journals evolved from the coptic stitch
and involves stitching on cords leaving an open spine.
This allows each book to open comfortably flat.
This is a wonderful feature when writing, gluing or sketching and also makes the spine stronger.
